ABOUT US - WHAT WE DO

 

SDAV - Nov 2014 UAV 3D imagery - Pahoa Lava Flow

 

The SDAV UAV team is hard at work assisting local emergency organizations providing decision makers up to the minute 3D imagery for Pahoa Town. The team is currently: Using UAV's for exploratory research on active lava flow assessment, evaluating UAV flight performance in a dynamic thermal environments for future researchers, evaluating the feasibility of launching and recovery UAV's in hazardous terrains, and generating imagery and derived geospatial data for Civil Defense and USGS.

 

OUR MISSION

 

SDAV mission is to provide professional spatial technology education and research service. The SDAV exists to serve the faculty, staff, students, and administration of the University and the public by carrying out its mission to: Encourage invention and innovation at the University of Hawaii, transferring the results of SDAV research to the public by bringing researchers and the business community together in a relationship of mutual advantage, generating income for future research and education, and to contributing to local, state, and regional business competitiveness and economic development.
